Vegas Isn't the Only Place to Play
(Top Places to Play Poker)

Millions of tourists travel to Las Vegas every year to test their poker mettle against others at the table.  Everyone who is anyone goes to Vegas – but would you be interested to know that Sin City doesn’t even lay claim to the largest casino in North America ?  Say it isn’t so.

Many of the world’s top casinos are outside of Vegas, and we have put a few of them together.  So, when you are thinking of a great poker destination, you may not even need to leave your own backyard.  It could be just around the corner.  Who said you can’t stay in a hotel in your own hometown?

1.) Foxwoods Resort Casino – Mashantucket , CT

Would you believe one of the best brick and mortar poker spots is in New England ?  Foxwoods Casino Resort is the largest resort of its kind in the world.  Yes, that’s right, the world.  Fifty-five hundred slot machines, and 24/7 poker - what more could anyone ask for?  The Foxwoods also hosts the New England Poker Classic every April.

2.) Commerce Casino – Los Angeles , CA

This place, nestled in one of North America ’s largest cities boasts over 125 tables committed to poker.  Aside from the poker, the Commerce Casino and the surrounding resort area has some of the best food around.  Host to the LA Poker Classic and various other tournaments each year.

3.) Trump Taj Mahal – Atlantic City , NJ

It’s not uncommon to be turning hands with celebrities when you head to one of   Donald Trump’s real estate triumphs – the Trump Taj Mahal. With 68 poker tables covering all of the games, the Trump Taj, has something for everyone.  They also have a beginner’s poker instruction daily.  To top it off, you might even catch a glimpse of the Donald while you enjoy your stay.

4.) Peppermill – Reno , NV

Not too far of the beaten track to Vegas lies the 2001 best Casino in Reno award winner.  It was also rated one of the Top 10 Casinos in North America by MSN and Citysearch, and in the Top 25 places to play poker, by Poker Digest.  That’s a lot of accolades for a casino that isn’t on the strip in Vegas.  If you are heading to Vegas, maybe sidetrack for the day and go to Reno for a night.

5.) Hollywood Park Casino – Inglewood , CA

The Hollywood has over 100 tables for card players to lay them down, including all of the major games.  Daily lessons for the beginners, and no-limit games for the high rollers, this Inglewood casino is a boon for poker players looking for a great getaway.  It is also home to the Mike Caro – University of Poker .

6.) Harrah’s New Orleans Casino – New Orleans , LA

You’ve got plenty of culture in the Big Easy, including the birthplace of true jazz, the French influence, and of course Mardi Gras.  But, since legalized casino gambling was reintroduced into Louisiana in 1993, casinos have sprouted up across the state.  One of the best is a familiar Vegas name – Harrah’s.   20 tables fill the poker room in this elegant casino in the heart of Cajun Country, with plenty of poker for any card player.
