Buy In Amount
If you’re looking for information on what limit you
should play, hopefully you’ve already established a
poker bankroll. If you haven’t set your
overall poker bankroll please check our
poker bankroll page before reading on.
OK,
you’re ready to get in the game. You have got your
overall bankroll and now you’re looking to play.
There’s a short way and a long way to look at this.
Since we’re here to teach you how to win, I’m hoping
you will bear with me for the long version. If not...
scroll down to *notes and you can see the abridged
version of how much you need to buy in with to be
comfortable in a poker game.
What
is the Buy In Amount?
The amount of money you need to buy in with is
directly related to the game you are playing. We are
going to look at the four most popular types of poker
games and how much you should buy in with in order to
feel comfortable. The four types of poker games we
will cover are - limit poker games, no-limit poker
games, high low poker games and poker tournaments.
For
the no limit poker games and poker tournaments the buy
in amounts are usually fixed amounts. We are going to
touch briefly on how much of your overall bankroll
should be risked for each no limit session or
tournament.
Limit
games and high low are easier to explain. There is a
basic formula that should serve as a solid guide for
all limits. Please click on the specific poker game
below to learn more about that particular buy in or
see the *notes section for quick reference on buy in
amounts.
