Women in Poker- Top Female Poker Players

Not so long ago, poker was considered a “man’s sport.” Women poker players were perceived as jokes throughout the poker community and rarely taken seriously at the card tables. Seldom would you ever find a lady seated in a card room full of men, and it was even rarer for a woman to cash in at a major poker tournament like the World Series of Poker.

My how the times have changed!

Thanks to poker pioneers like Barbara Enright, Susie Isaacs, Linda Johnson and Marsha Waggoner, the first female poker players to be inducted into the Women in Poker Hall of Fame; and in large part to the tremendous growth of online poker, which knocked down gender barriers by creating a poker world based on skill and not appearance, the number of women playing poker has increased dramatically—and they’re not just playing, they’re winning!

Many of the top poker professionals in the world today are women. Just pay attention the next time you’re flipping through the channels and come across televised coverage of the WSOP or other poker event, you’re certain to see women battling it out at the tables and walking away with huge paydays!

Below are just a few of the top female poker players to look out for at the card tables! Be sure to visit ThePokerSource.com daily to read more female poker player profiles.
