Fund Your Poker Account Using Your Credit Card

Q&A: Credit Card Funding

I’ve played poker in the past but I’m new to online poker. What is the best way to get real money into my account? I tried my credit card.  The poker room said they accepted them but mine was declined even though I had plenty of funds available.-
Alex P. of Buffalo New York .

This is a great question and is one that is often overlooked. Why do certain poker rooms say they accept credit cards but yours won’t go through? Read below for the answer and a quick trick to help solve this problem and will have you in the game in minutes.

Credit Card-Declined?

Many players attempt to deposit with their credit card and are frustrated when the transaction is declined. The fact of the matter is that about 70% of all credit cards will be declined. This is due to the gambling code that is attached to your transaction. Many banks shy away from accepting any charge made with  the gambling code attached for fear of future liability or charge backs.

Credit Card- Accepted?

This doesn’t mean that you can not use your credit card to make your deposit, just that you can’t do it directly to the poker site. This is where our recommended funding options such as Neteller, PrePaidATM and FirePay come in. These companies allow you to open accounts with them and fund your account with any major credit card. You can then use that account to fund your online poker play. Sound confusing? Actually, it couldn’t be easier.

Step 1-
Visit Neteller and fill out their quick registration form. Neteller is the largest gaming processor in the world and is highly recommended as a funding option.  Don’t worry about your personal information.  Neteller is built on privacy.  They will not ask you for anything too personal and they will never sell your information.

Step 2-
Once your Neteller account is open, use your credit card to fund your Neteller account as you would any other credit card purchase.

Step 3-
Visit the recommended online poker site of your choice by clicking on the link or banner on The Poker Source. Once you arrive, open your account and choose Neteller from their list of funding options ( all recommended online poker rooms listed on TPS accept Neteller.) From there, you can instantly fund your account and start playing.

Other benefits

Along with offering you the convenience of being able to deposit with your credit card, funding companies such as Neteller and PrepaidATM also give you the fastest possible accesses to your winnings. Withdrawals are processed in minutes or hours, rather than days. You can even get ATM cards that will allow you to withdrawal your winnings instantly from any local bank.

Hopefully this helps answer any question you may have had about getting started and funding your online poker account. Please check back weekly for the latest installment of our Q&A on the basics of playing online.
